Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) has a leading role establishing and managing the succession planning and talent management process for senior and executive leadership roles across NHS Wales. Extensive research, stakeholder engagement and learning from other UK nations, has informed implementation of the NHS Wales Succession Strategy 2017 – 2027. To meet the ambitions outlined within the national Succession Strategy a new process for the identification of Aspiring Senior Leaders / Executive Talent Pools has been established for 2022. If you are an Aspiring Executive / Board Member in NHS Wales please register via the 'Talent Pool Portal' below and check out development opportunities specifically available to Senior Leaders and Executives via our 'Senior Leadership Development Offer' and 'Executive Development Suite'.
To support the development of robust processes for the local and national identification of talent pipelines, including senior leadership talent, HEIW is working collaboratively with local Talent leads across NHS Wales to implement best practice talent management, supported by evidence-based tools and resources. These are under development but will be available to organisations, managers and leaders soon via 'Talent Management Resources'.
