  • Using Gwella


    Q1: Can I access Gwella using the Welsh language?

    Gwella is a bilingual portal and is therefore available in both English and Welsh. To access the Welsh version of the page, click ‘Cymraeg’ at the top right corner of the page.

    C2: Do I need an account on Gwella?

    Having an account will give access to more of the functionalities such as the ability to register on programs and courses, collaborate and discuss with other members, access private network groups, create playlists, and complete competency frameworks and learning pathways.

    But even without an account, you'll still be able to access the public pages, articles and blogs, public events, and our resource library.

    Q3: How do I get access to a Gwella account?

    To become a member of Gwella you must be employed by either NHS Wales or Social Care Wales. If so, sign up now. It is free to set up an account and to access the resources and functionalities provided.

    Q4: Do I need to pay to have an account on Gwella?

    No, having an account set up on Gwella is free, as well as all the resources and functionalities provided.

    Q5: Can I use my personal email address to register for a Gwella account?

    You will need to use your NHS or Social Care Wales email to register on Gwella. To become a member of Gwella you must be employed by either NHS Wales or Social Care Wales. If so, sign up now. It is free to set up an account and to access the resources and functionalities provided.

    Q6: Do I need a particular qualification or be at a specific level in my organisation to have access to Gwella?

    No. Leadership is for everyone, and so is Gwella. If you are employed by either NHS Wales or Social Care Wales, you can have access to our leadership platform.

    Q7: Do I need my Manager’s permission to request a Gwella account?

    No. The platform is free to anyone employed by NHS Wales or Social Care Wales.

    Q8: What resources are available on Gwella?

    Gwella provides a wide range of leadership and management resources related to health and social care. From talks, lectures, articles and podcasts, you will find a vast library of information that will support your learning and development. Please explore our resources library.

    Q9: How do I find a specific resource?

    In our Resource page, use the browse bar to type a key word relating to the resource you are searching for and browse available resources by navigating through our resource categories on the left of the page.

    Q10: How do I listen to podcasts on Gwella

    You can listen to the Gwella on Air Podcast on our podcast of choice (Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts) or on our website, where you can also watch the video interview.

    The Gwella on Air Podcast explores compassionate leadership in action through a series of one-to-one discussions with a range of leaders. These informal sessions will look at how compassionate behaviours have been embedded across the system and what compassionate leadership looks like in action.


    Gwella Functionalities


    Q11: What is a Gwella Network?

    A Network is a platform for a diverse range of individuals to become actively engaged around a specific project or programme. It facilitates discussion and allows people to collaborate, share your ideas and resources.

    Q12: What is a Gwella Playlist?

    A Playlist is a content creation tool, similar to Powerpoint that can be used to create and present resources, test knowledge, and can be incorporated into competences frameworks.

    Q13: How do I find events I'm interested in?

    To find events on Gwella, go to our Events App and browse our coming up upcoming events. To attend an event, select the event in our Events App and click ‘Join Event’. If you do not have an account, you will only have access to public events.

    Q14: I am experiencing technical difficulties with a virtual classroom. How can I get support?

    If you are having technical difficulties with a virtual classroom, check our troubleshooting guide. If you are still experiencing technical difficulties, contact us.

    Q15: Can I access the virtual classroom within Events through any platform?

    No, virtual classrooms only work through laptops or desktops. If you join a virtual classroom through a tablet or smartphone you will experience technical issues.
