We are pleased to offer internal developmental opportunities for those new to leadership and management or new managers into Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The Foundations of Leadership and Management Programme provides supervisors, managers and leaders with the foundational knowledge and core skills required to effectively manage services and staff at BCUHB.

Eligibility

Learners must manage staff and have their Line Managers permission to complete the course.

Learners who opt in for the Classroom Training must be able to attend each date.

Programme Structure

There are two ways in which you can complete this training, either Foundations Online or Foundations Classroom Training as described below. Choose the method of learning that will suit you best.

About the Programme

  • The online programme is a completely self-directed module lasting approximately 9hrs. This version allows you to work through the modules at your own pace, when you have capacity / availability to do so, as the system will bookmark where you last viewed.

Duration and Method

  • Completion window of 6 months
  • Online via Gwella Leadership Portal

Requirement

Approximately 9-hours of self-directed learning to be completed over a 6-month period.

The training contains short quizzes, completion statements and reflections to help embed learning.

About the Programme

  • The classroom version is delivered in locations across the Health Board (East, Central or West) and consists of the following:

Duration and Method

  • 3 month programme
  • A mix of face-to-face classroom sessions and self-directed online learning.
    • 2 and a half days face to face training
    • Completion of online modules

Requirement

  • Learners are asked to commit to all of the training dates within their cohort. Learners are also expected to bring their laptop for each session and sign up to the Gwella Leadership Portal.
