Supporting Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic Talent Across NHS Wales
The NHS Wales Stepping into Senior Leadership Programme is a 12-month positive action initiative for NHS Wales colleagues from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds who are working at Agenda for Change Band 7, Band 8a or Band 8b, or equivalent medical and dental levels.
Developed in response to the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan and supported by the national Culture, Leadership and Succession Board, the programme aims to strengthen diversity in senior leadership pipelines across NHS Wales. It provides a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where colleagues can connect with peers, build confidence, explore leadership strategies and develop the skills, self-awareness and system understanding needed for their next career step.
Through a blend of mutual mentoring, leadership profiling, project-based learning, action learning sets, expert facilitation, group coaching and peer networking, participants are supported to overcome barriers, apply their learning in practice and prepare for progression into senior leadership roles.
