Introducing the Team

Programme Lead: Gemma Stafford

Gemma Stafford is the programme lead for the Introduction to healthcare Leadership Course since 2014. She is a pharmacist of 22 years, with a background in community pharmacy practice and over 17 years of experience working in education. Gemma has a specialist interest in leadership development and practice and has completed the previous Pharmacy Leadership Development Programme through RPS and the Compassionate Leadership in Practice course in Glyndwr University. In addition to this she has achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Pharmacy Practice and a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching & Learning.

Education Resource Developer: Emma Llewellyn

Emma Llewellyn works in HEIW as an education resource developer and leads the Post-registration Foundation Pharmacist programme for early career pharmacists. She is a pharmacist of 14 years, with a background in community pharmacy, where she currently still practises and through which she has recently become an independent prescriber. Emma has been working in pharmacy education for 7 years, based within South Wales, during which time she has completed a Postgraduate Education and Training module through Cardiff University and a City and Guilds Level 3 Assessment and Quality assurance qualification. Emma has been supporting in the delivery of the Introduction to Healthcare Leadership course since 2023 and enjoys working with a variety of healthcare professionals as part of this role.

Regional Continuing Professional Development Leads: Karen Brambles

Karen Brambles is one of the regional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) leads within HEIW Pharmacy and has taught on the Introduction to healthcare Leadership Course since 2022. She has been a registered pharmacist since 1994 with a background in both primary care and community settings, and since 2021, has been based in an education role in North Wales. She has experience in planning, delivering, and coordinating education delivery in both pharmacy and multiprofessional areas. Karen also leads on implementing the standards for competency assurance of non-medical prescribers in Wales and leads on developing resources for pharmacist independent prescribers.

Regional Continuing Professional Development Leads: Catrin Windsor-Jones

Catrin Windsor-Jones is one of the regional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) leads within HEIW Pharmacy and has taught on the Introduction to healthcare Leadership Course since 2017. She has been a registered pharmacist since 2005 with a background in both hospital and community settings, and since 2016, has been based in an education role. She has experience in planning, delivering, and coordinating education delivery in both pharmacy and multiprofessional areas. She completed a post-graduate certificate in Medical Education from Cardiff University in 2021.

Pharmacy GP Transition Programme Lead: Alison Davies

Alison works in HEIW as lead for the Pharmacy GP Transition Programmes – supporting pharmacists and technicians moving into work in GP Practices. She also supports delivery of training on other pharmacy programmes. She worked in the Community Pharmacy setting before moving into Primary Care and has worked as a Prescribing Advisor and Cluster Pharmacist before moving into her current role as a Practice Pharmacist which she does in addition to the HEIW role.

Katie MacDonald is one of the regional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) leads within HEIW pharmacy and has taught on the Introduction to Healthcare Leadership course since 2024. She has been a registered pharmacist since 2014 with a background in secondary and primary care and currently works as a cluster pharmacist in addition to her HEIW CPD role. She completed a postgraduate module in Education, Training and Development through Cardiff University in 2024.
