The 3D Discovering, Developing and Delivering in Healthcare programme is a free educational programme open to applications from all registered healthcare professionals in NHS Wales.

This programme consists of 6 modules (3 in-person and 3 online) and runs between September and May. The 3D programme introduces healthcare professionals to the knowledge and skills which will support them in delivering and improving patient services in Wales.

The Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme is a considerable investment in our senior clinical staff. Its aim being to create a cohort of leaders with the right values, behaviour, knowledge, skills and confidence to build a culture of compassionate and inclusive leadership. This in turn will attract, continuously support and develop a flexible and agile workforce who feel valued and are valued.

This programme will equip the next generation of leaders with the skills and experience to support their colleagues and teams, to provide exemplary services to communities across Wales.

The Emerging Leaders Programme places Compassionate Leadership at the heart of leadership development. The programme provides a supportive, inclusive environment to explore your development, delivered virtually to work around you.

The HEIW Summer Internship Programme is an eight-week initiative developed by students, for students. It is open to individuals currently studying at university or within one year post-graduation. Additionally, a year-long internship is available, offering participants an extended opportunity to gain experience across various areas of the organisation and observe the daily operations and challenges within the NHS.

The Introduction to Healthcare Leadership Programme aims to introduce a range of practical and interpersonal skills that will enable individuals to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams. It is designed for healthcare professionals who are in the early stages of career development or who are just beginning to manage people and teams.

We have developed a two-year work-based programme that includes a fully funded Masters programme for aspiring leaders of NHS Wales. Graduates will gain academic knowledge as well as a hands-on learning experience, based in placements across Wales in primary care, secondary care and corporate divisions. Trainees will undertake a fully funded Masters alongside work-based learning

If you are a dynamic and courageous senior leader, determined to have a wider impact by leading and driving change within a culture of trust and compassion, this experience is for you.

The experience combines diagnostics with personal development feedback and discussion, offering support and challenge in a comprehensive coaching session to deepen personal reflection and learning transfer.

Stepping into Senior Leadership Programme is a positive action initiative designed for minority ethnic colleagues with high potential, aiming to progress to senior roles within NHS Wales. This programme is dedicated to increasing confidence, overcoming barriers, and identifying skills for further development to encourage career progression.

This exciting, unique one-year opportunity has been successfully running since 2013. The culture of leadership is changing in the modern NHS, with more emphasis on leadership and management training in undergraduate/postgraduate studies. The future of healthcare depends on credible clinical leaders.
