I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting when I started the course, but it has had such a positive impact on me I have been quite overwhelmed, finishing was quite emotional. It has given me a deeper understanding of myself, allowed me to be self-compassionate and made it ok to follow my passion rather than to do what I think is expected. I've made friends and had a lot of fun along the way. In short, it's turned an old cynic into an optimist. I'm very grateful to the team at HEIW for giving me this opportunity.
Thank you for all the coordination, consideration and planning that has gone into putting this course together. You’ve provided a variety of learning experiences and given opportunities for discussion and reflection that have helped me to embed compassionate leadership within my day-to-day.
The attitude from HEIW to promote such a nurturing, challenging and compassionate environment for all of us has come across in all the sessions you have put on for us. The speakers have all been excellent and obviously carefully selected to complement the ethos of the course. You have given us the confidence to continue on our leadership journey with renewed passion for delivering healthcare in Wales and you should be so proud of the impact I am sure the cohorts will all have in the future. The group are all amazing and I feel we will be able to support each other as we carry on our careers. The trip to the Elan Valley was an obvious highlight for me, despite a bit of rain we were suitably pushed to learn a little more about ourselves.
Wow! 29 years in the NHS and this is by far the best course I have been on – thank you so much. Great speakers, great resources and the best cohort of peers! So much learning about myself, my leadership style and opportunity to reflect on where I am and where I would like to see my career take me.
