Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme

Inspiring Your Curiosity, Compassion, Creativity and Courage

The development of a national clinical leadership programme for senior clinical leaders is a direct response to the Health and Social Care Workforce Strategy for NHS Wales 2020 which sets the ambition that “by 2030, leaders in the health and social care system will display collective and compassionate leadership.”

The Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme is a considerable investment in our senior clinical staff. Its aim being to create a cohort of leaders with the right values, behaviour, knowledge, skills and confidence to build a culture of compassionate and inclusive leadership. This in turn will attract, continuously support and develop a flexible and agile workforce who feel valued and are valued.

Those attending will benefit from improved understanding of their current and potential impact and influence at an individual, team and system level, as well as the opportunity to join a sustainable and supportive multi-professional network, anticipated to last beyond the programme time frame.

The brilliant Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme offers a precious opportunity to learn, grow and flourish, building strong, supportive and abiding connections with other clinical leaders.

It empowers you to relish leadership and to provide high quality support for staff, in order that they can ensure continually improving and compassionate care. This programme offers a superb opportunity for clinical leads to shape the future of health and care in Wales.

It has given me a deeper understanding of myself, allowed me to be self-compassionate and made it ok to follow my passion rather than to do what I think is expected.

Dr Linda Warnock, Consultant Anaesthetist

The project presentations that I watched were excellent, but what I was more impressed with was the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the ACLP programme itself – from all the participants. Some were quite emotional and it was clear that the programme has had a real, positive and lasting impact on the participants.

The positive relationships that the participants have built with the HEIW programme facilitators was a joy to watch, they deserve a huge amount of credit for making the programme such a success. Congratulations to you all.
