Requirements
The Clinical Leadership Immersive Programme (CLIP) is 100% funded.
You can get the most out of the course experience by meeting the following expectations:
- Attend all sessions planned within the course and engage with all sessions scheduled after Day 3
- Prepare for each course day and all post-learning sessions, ensuring that all prior learning requirements are completed
- Actively participate in the course by asking questions, sharing thoughts and experiences, and engaging in group activities
- Help create an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas with an open mind
Important Information for Days One and Two
Please note that you will be taking part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities during Days One and Two. Outdoor activities will go ahead in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe. Please bring suitable attire for this type of activity. E.g. Change of footwear.
What to Bring to All Sessions
Please bring the following items to each session:
- A pen and notepad
- A laptop and charger
Learning Outcomes
Success will be demonstrated by participants applying key learnings from CLIP into their everyday practice, providing local leadership that:
- Creates psychologically safe and compassionate cultures through their influence
- Engages in continuous self-reflection to identify strengths and areas for growth
- Shows confidence and a willingness to take risks that drive innovation
- Contributes constructively to discussions and challenges, regardless of hierarchy

| Introduction to Compassionate Leadership Behaviours | Virtual session exploring the Compassionate Leadership Behaviours as laid down by Prof Michael West. | 
| Day One ‘The Self Discoverer' | You will demonstrate an understanding of ‘gold standard’ clinical leadership by identifying key attributes, recognising the link between actions, values and behaviours, assessing gaps in current practice, and translating a personal mission statement into applied professional leadership. | 
| Pre-Day Two Playlist | This online resource takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and covers topics such as risk apetite, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Decision making, De Bonos 6 hats and Black Box Thinking. | 
| Day Two ‘The Decision-Making Risk Taker’ | You will lead collaboratively by actively listening and communicating within teams, confidently sharing ideas and making values-driven decisions, reflecting and adapting to change, modelling NHS Wales values, fostering creativity and innovation, driving sustainable improvements, and challenging practices with self-awareness to inspire continuous growth and improvement | 
| Day Three ‘The Accountable Improver’ | You will build professional growth through confident networking, valuing diverse perspectives, applying reflective models to improve practice, engaging in development activities, contributing to action learning sets, and supporting others while creating and pursuing meaningful professional goals. | 
Certificate of Completion
The course is designed to support tangible changes in your clinical leadership behaviours. To demonstrate this, you will be expected to complete a reflective presentation outlining your leadership journey and how it has influenced your practice. Upon completion of the presentation, you will receive your course certificate. Presentations will be scheduled 3–6 months after the in-person training day, allowing time for meaningful integration of learning into your day-to-day leadership.
Programme Schedule
Venues for in-person sessions will be secured based on successful participant needs. Confirmation of the venues will be sent with confirmation of acceptance onto the programme.
