A Community of Practice is a group of people who “share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly”. The concept was first proposed by cognitive anthropologist Jean Lave and educational theorist Etienne Wenger in 1991. It is essentially a group of peers who share a common concern or topical interest that come together to fulfil both individual and group goals. Communities of Practice often focus on sharing ‘best-practice’ to advance within a domain of professional practice.
The Succession Planning and Talent Management Community of Practice was established in April 2022 to knowledge share, connect and learn together as a community.
Our Succession Planning and Talent Management Community of Practice has been specifically set up to connect nationally with those who have been identified by their respective organisations as local Talent Leads.
The Community of Practice meets on a quarterly basis to engage and discuss current thinking around Succession Planning and Talent Management, co-create national resources and to learn from each other’s local strategies.
