The transition into leadership, and into increasingly senior roles can be daunting and challenging. The all-Wales Leadership Mentorship Scheme will serve as one of a range of interventions to support mental health leadership development, improve the leadership experience and to inspire confident and competent leaders for the future. The Mental Health Leadership Mentorship Scheme offers development for both aspiring mentors and leaders who are seeking to develop their leadership skills through accessing mentorship as a mentee.
Information
About the Programme
- Aspiring Mentors:
- Mental health leaders, of all professions, with a passion for supporting the development of leaders through one-to-one mentoring can apply for a fully funded 1-year mentorship training programme (ILM 3, 5 or 7), with supervision support and a community of practice to support their mentorship journey.
- Aspiring Mentees
Leaders wishing to develop their leadership skills can apply for a 12-18 month mentoring opportunity with an experienced leader. This is available to new leaders, leaders who wish to, or have recently gained a more senior position, leaders who feel ‘stuck’ or wish to develop a particular area of their leadership practice.
Suitability
The scheme is open to all leaders and aspiring leaders working in mental health services within Wales. Mentees will be offered mentoring from an experienced leader who might be from the same, or a different profession to their own. Unless specifically required, it is likely that you would be placed with a mentor from a different organisation from your own to support anonymity and knowledge sharing across organisational boundaries.
