Introduction to Healthcare Leadership Programme

The Introduction to Healthcare Leadership programme aims to introduce a range of practical and interpersonal skills that will enable individuals to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams. It is designed for healthcare professionals who are in the early stages of career development or who are just beginning to manage people and teams.

Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme

The Advanced Clinical Leadership Programme (ACLP) is a considerable investment in our senior clinical staff. Its aim being to create a cohort of leaders with the right values, behaviour, knowledge, skills and confidence to build a culture of compassionate and inclusive leadership. This in turn will attract, continuously support and develop a flexible and agile workforce who feel valued and are valued.

Mental Health Team Managers Development Programme

The Mental Health Team Manager Development Programme is a 9-month leadership and management development opportunity for current and aspiring mental health team managers across health, social care, and third sector mental health services in Wales. On completion, participants will receive a recognised accredited academic qualification, skills, and knowledge to equip them in their role as current or future Mental Health Team Manager. The programme will include a focus on leadership priorities within NHS Wales, such as compassionate and collective leadership, psychological safety, patient safety and digital improvement/data driven services. Mental Health Leadership Mentoring Scheme

To support leaders’ development, facilitate the sharing of skills and to challenge isolation, HEIW launched the All-Wales Mantal Health Leadership Mentorship scheme in 2024. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from both mentees and mentors.

We are looking for experienced mental health leaders, of all professions, with a passion for supporting the development of others, to become leadership mentors. Mentors will be offered a fully funded 1 year mentorship training programme (ILM 3, 5 or 7), supervision sessions and a community of practice to support their mentorship journey.

Welsh Clinical Leadership Fellowship

The Welsh Clinical Leadership Fellowship (WCLF) programme is a one-year opportunity for doctors, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, AHPs, and Healthcare Scientists. The WCLF programme provides training and hands-on experience in clinical leadership and management. The aim of the scheme is to recruit and develop the most aspiring clinical leaders of the future.

Senior Leadership Experience

If you are a dynamic and courageous senior leader, determined to have a wider impact by leading and driving change within a culture of trust and compassion, then the Senior Leadership Experience (SLE) is for you. The experience combines diagnostics with personal development feedback and discussion, offering support and challenge in a comprehensive coaching session to deepen personal reflection and learning transfer

3D Programme

The 3D Discovering, Developing and Delivering in Healthcare programme is a free educational programme open to applications from all registered healthcare professionals in NHS Wales.

This programme consists of 6 modules (3 in-person and 3 online) and runs between September and May. The 3D programme introduces healthcare professionals to the knowledge and skills which will support them in delivering and improving patient services in Wales.
