Virtual Briefing

  • The briefing session provides an overview of the Senior Leadership Experience and instruction on the process of accessing and completing the range of leadership diagnostics that form part of this unique development offer. This session also provides the opportunity to meet fellow participants and supports to register for the Gwella Leadership Portal and Programme Hub.

Diagnostics

  • Participants will undertake a comprehensive suite of online diagnostics, developed with Korn Ferry, aimed at exploring personal behaviours and leadership styles, team climate, relationships and emotional intelligence.
  • In order to gain the most from the experience, it is essential that you can identify at least 3 people that you lead (ideally 6-8). This may be a formal line management relationship or where you work with others in a supervisory or programme management capacity. You will also select your line manager, as well as peers, others and clients/customers to complete the diagnostics.

Profiling Day

  • This in person event is an intensive and interactive day which provides participants with knowledge and understanding of the leadership models and theory which underpin the leadership diagnostics being completed. This supports interpretation and allows individuals to make the most of the feedback received. This day also provides further opportunity to network with NHS Wales colleagues, sharing experiences and building alliances.

Coaching Sessions 1 and 2

  • The coaching sessions are an essential part of the experience. Participants are allocated an experienced executive/ senior leadership Coach who is also an accredited practitioner for the Korn Ferry diagnostics.
  • Coaching Session 1 - This first coaching session will be arranged at a mutually convenient time in the fortnight following the Profiling Day. The Coach will support the participant with interpretation of their reports and provide a space for exploration, coaching, and signposting on any issues the participant wishes to explore. They will also support development of a personal leadership action plan.
  • Coaching Session 2 - This coaching session takes place some 6-7 weeks after the first, with participants using the time to explore their leadership development plans and actions to date and any continued areas for personal growth.

Coaching Session 2

  • This coaching session takes place some 6-7 weeks after the first, with participants using the time to explore their leadership development plans and actions to date and any continued areas for personal growth.

Carry Out Your Plan

  • Between coaching sessions participants will implement agreed actions and note the impact of any changes / modifications to their leadership style and behaviours.

Learning Into Action

  • Participants return to share their learning and the impact of the Senior Leadership Experience for them, their teams and organisation; and are joined for this celebratory event by sponsors/managers and guests.
